Blake Barnett
QB-Alabama-Santiago High-Corona, CA
6-5, 200-40 yard time 4.85
Nick Saban is as he usually is, offering no hints to who is performing the best for the QB job. "Today’s really the first day we’ve seen him play quarterback," he commented on Barnett. "We saw him in the off-season program. He’s done a great job. He’s got great leadership qualities. He’s a great person."
Barnett has a cannon arm, although he didn't show it too much in the Under Armor All-American Bowl. Instead, he looked a little flustered, not looking downfield when pressure came, and being too quick to scramble. In that game, he looked like he had a lot of technique to develop.
When you watch his High School tape, he looks impressive. Firing bombs right on target, he's accurate from any point on the field, and he uses his legs very well. Barnett will be well used in Alabama once he has the chance to start.
